Parish Day School Trike-a-thon

We are excited to host our 11th Annual Trike-a-thon to benefit Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters Child Life Program.  On April 18th & 19th we will have a tricycle riding course set up and each class will participate.

CHKD offers this program to introduce and encourage philanthropy amongst preschoolers.  Children can bring their bikes with training wheels, tricycles, balance bikes or other three-wheeled mode of transportation to ride for charity.  If your child can start, stop and ride a 2-wheeler independently a bicycle will be allowed only if we are outside.  We will move inside if it rains and due to the tight turning radius bicycles are not safe.  We will have our playground trikes available to share but all children must bring their own helmet.

We will talk to the children about CHKD before the event and explain how this hospital is so special because all the patients are children.  We will watch a video in class that explains what a visit might be like (“Welcome to CHKD” on You Tube.  Lila in the video is a PDS alum!).  Chances are we have several students who have benefited from the fabulous care the hospital offers.  Let your teacher know if your child has visited CHKD or sees a CHKD doctor.  We will be riding in memory of Kristen Bartneck, a former PDS student, and in honor of Braxton, a current student who just underwent his third surgery at CHKD.

Thanks for considering donating to CHKD.  Every penny counts.
